Dave Dalzell was named “REALTOR OF THE YEAR” by the Texas Association of REALTORS in 2017. He is a two time Past President of the Abilene Association of Realtors. He served as Chairman of the Texas Association of Realtors in 2004; Chairman of the Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University in 2008-2009; and President of the Abilene Association of Realtors in 1986 and again in 2013. He was Regional Vice-President of the National Association of Realtors in 2007; Chairman of the West Central Texas Work Force Solutions Board in 2009-2010; and has served in many other leadership roles for his church and community as well as local, state and national professional organizations. He is a graduate of Abilene Christian University with a degree in Psychology and extensive graduate work in Management and Human Relations. He earned his CRB (Certified Residential Brokerage Manager), CRS (Certified Residential Specialist), GRI (Graduate of the REALTOR Institute), and AHWD (At Home with Diversity) Realtor designations.

Dave was active in radio broadcasting before entering the real estate business. As well as an on-air personality he was Program Director, Operations Manager and Creative Writer for 10 years. At the time he left radio, his morning drive Talk Radio Show and afternoon drive rock music program were among the highest audience rated shows in the nation (64% Arbitron rating afternoon drive and 54% Arbitron rating morning drive talk program).

He started in the real estate business in 1977, was named Salesperson of the Year in 1978 and REALTOR of the Year in 1988 by the Abilene Association of Realtors as well as REALTOR Of The Year for 2017 by the Texas Association of REALTORS. He was named one of the top 10 honorees for the “Good Neighbor” award from the National Association of Realtors in 2008 and the first ever “Texas Hero” award by the Texas Association of Realtors in 2009 for his charitable and community service work.

Dave has served in numerous offices and committees for his local Realtor association, the Texas Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. He served 3 terms as a TAR Regional Vice-President; President of the Texas Chapter of Certified Residential Brokerage Managers (CRB) in 1985; 6 years as TAR-PAC Trustee; 9 years as an NAR National Director; and on the NAR Executive Committee in 2007, 2012, 2013 and 2015 through 2017. He served numerous years on both the Legislative Management team and Executive Committee for TAR, on the FannieMae Southwest Advisory Council and the Texas Real Estate Commission Education Advisory Committee. Dave was appointed by the Governor of Texas to the Advisory Board of the Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University and the Board of Directors of the West Central Texas Workforce Solutions Board. For the National Association of REALTORS he has served as the Chairman of the Federal Housing Policy Committee, Housing Opportunity Committee and the Public Policy Coordinating Committee.

Dave taught real estate for 5 years at Cisco College, 12 years at Abilene Christian University and for more than 20 years as a senior instructor for the REALTOR Institute of The Texas Association of REALTORS. Dave owns and manages Dalzell, REALTORS, a full service brokerage and property management company in Abilene, Texas.
